Covid-19 is still a threat, but with continued public health measures, vaccination and testing, it is possible to travel internationally. You will need to plan your travel carefully and there are risks.
Travel to Botswana
Travel restrictions are in place to protect public health and to mitigate the risk of new variants of COVID-19 entering the country.
In weighing decisions to travel to Botswana at this time, travellers should take into consideration the risk of restrictions being introduced during their travel and, also, the impact which responding to COVID-19 may have on local health care systems over the course of their proposed visit.
All those travelling into Botswana must present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed no more than 72 hours before your arrival time, and must also take an additional test at the port of entry. If you do not present a prior negative test, if the test at the border is positive, or if you show COVID-19 symptoms, you may be refused entry or be required to undergo 14 days isolation or quarantine at your own expense.
Travelers who are visiting or resident in Botswana should be aware of the requirement to comply with any measures that may be introduced by the government of Botswana in response to the pandemic, and the requirement to comply in full with all immigration requirements at all times. Botswana is divided into nine COVID-19 zones, and an inter-zonal travel permit is required to travel between zones.
