The one of a kind sports tourism featuring four countries of Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The 75km route goes through towns such as Chilimbana and Simonga in Zambia, and through Katombora and Komanyana in Zimbabwe. The route offers postcard scenery that includes the Zambezi River, Kazungula Bridge, and Victoria Falls. The starting point would be the impressive Kazungula Bridge via Livingstone in Zambia to Victoria Falls Bridge in Zimbabwe and back to the starting point totaling 150 km. Besides the 150km for elite riders, members of the public were also allowed to sign up for leisure categories ranging from 10km-50km.
Kazungula Bridge Marathon
The inaugural FNB Kazungula bridge marathon, will take place on the 26th February 2022. This iconic marathon is expected to impact and elevate both the economy and athletes’ status. The marathon that is expected to draw both athletes and tourists is the first of its kind in Chobe, Botswana.
Basubiya Cultural Festival
The Basubiya from Chobe District annually hosts the cultural festival with the purpose of preserving, showcasing and promoting their unique rich culture. The event has been running since 2006 and it features song, dance, history telling, demonstration of the tribe’s lifestyle and comedy.
